Your Arm Pain Could be a Neck Problem

Given how much we use our arms and hands everyday, it’s understandable how frustrating pain in those areas can become. Many people suffer from symptoms of shooting pain, numbness, and tingling, eventually seeking the help of a surgeon to solve their arm problem. In many cases, however, this arm problem is in reality a neck issue.

Oftentimes pain in our arms originates in the neck due to a herniated disc rubbing up against nerves as they branch off from the spinal cord and exit the spine. Because the purpose of these nerves is to send and receive signals for sensation and movement between the brain and that part of the body, this irritation to the nerve causes symptoms such as numbness, pain, or even weakness. Luckily, research has shown that chiropractic can lead to a resolution of these symptoms and it’s root cause.

A recent study showed that more than 86% of people suffering from disc herniation improved by receiving chiropractic treatment. You see, many disc issues result from a decrease in spinal mobility, abnormal postures, and subsequent inflammation. Chiropractic is used to reverse those things causing the herniation though manipulation and prescribed stretches and exercise. In time the disc will heal, relieving you of your arm pain.
